FAQ

Q: How do we get started?

A: The initial step is to have a conversation about your project’s requirements. This includes discussing what you need, your deadline, and the purpose of the voiceover. This information allows us to provide you with an accurate quote and an estimated time of completion for your project.

Q: Is Sumara available for live-directed sessions?

A: Yes, Sumara is indeed available for live-directed sessions. She is experienced in working collaboratively with directors in real-time to deliver high-quality voiceover performances that meet the specific needs of each project. This can be done in person in a studio, or remotely using Source-Connect or SessionLink Pro.

Q: What is the format of the finished sound file?

A: We are committed to delivering broadcast-quality voiceover tracks. Each track is meticulously recorded, ensuring a polished final product that’s easy for you to work with.

This means:

  • clean, clear audio, edited and processed to your specifications
  • extra takes to give you options (for character voices or short scripts)
  • breaths removed (as needed to suit your script)
  • 16-bit/44.1kHz supplied as .wav, .mp3, or any other file type you need
  • delivered via email, Dropbox or Google Drive

If your sound engineer requires a different format or if you’d like us to handle the sound editing, please let us know.

Q: What is the policy on reworks or revisions?

A: We are dedicated to ensuring your satisfaction with the final voiceover. In the rare event that something isn’t quite right, we are committed to making it right. If the issue is due to an error on our part, we will promptly correct it free of charge. However, if there are changes to the script, additions, or a change in the desired performance style after the initial recording, a percentage of the original fee will be charged for the rework. This approach ensures fairness while maintaining the high-quality service you expect.

Q: How is the cost for your voiceover services determined?

A: Pricing is based on industry standards and is calculated considering two main factors:

  1. The scope of the work, which includes the length of the recording, whether it needs to align with a pre-existing track, and whether you prefer a live-directed session.
  2. The intended usage of the recording, such as its placement (website, internet, television, radio, etc.) and the duration of its use.

You have the option to either pay for a license for a predetermined length of time, which can be extended later if needed, or opt for a “buy out” of the usage, which allows you to use the recording indefinitely. This flexible approach ensures that you can choose the option that best suits your project’s needs and budget.

Q: What are the rates for you voiceover services?

A: As an independent voiceover service operating from a home studio, we can offer competitive rates without any additional agency or studio fees. All charges are in Australian Dollars, which can be beneficial for clients from the US, UK, or EU due to the exchange rate. You can use the XE currency converter to convert $AU to your local currency for an estimate of the final pricing.

Our rates vary based on the project’s length, usage, technicality, and audio requirements. Here’s a rough guide to our rates in Australian dollars ($AU):

For an exact rate and for other services such as live announcement, tour guide, promo, and imaging rates, please contact us with as specific information about your project as possible. If you have a specific budget in mind, do let us know.
